India Operation of GGS Information Services
Now Fully Certified to ISO 9001:2000
Global Quality Standards

Company’s Chennai India Operation Joins Other Facilities in Being Quality Certified

YORK, PA – The Chennai, India facility of GGS Information Services (GGS Information Services India Pvt. Ltd.), which serves the needs of customers in the technical publications and book publishing marketplaces, was officially awarded certification on March 21 by the British Standards Institution (now BSI Management Systems America, Inc.), for meeting compliance to the strict requirements of the International Standards Organization’s ISO 9001:2000 guidelines for quality work performance.

The GGS India operation, employing more than 200 highly technically skilled employees,  joins the firm’s other offices in Atlantic Highlands, NJ; New York City; St. Paul, MN; and York, PA, which successfully underwent a three-day audit recertification in January 2007. That audit resulted in a certificate being issued on February 20, 2007, which provides for official quality certification for all U.S. facilities for a three-year period.

“This is a stellar achievement for GGS India,” noted Lloyd Kendall, Vice President – Quality
Management Systems for GGS.

“The ISO 9001:2000 quality system involves a process approach to a firm’s quality management system. It details in written procedures and standards how the company conducts its daily work activity in terms of processes, workflow, and record keeping. When an international operation which deals with both U.S. and foreign-based customers can successfully complete an on-site audit review conducted by an ISO registrar, it’s an important achievement,” emphasized Kendall.

Typically up to two ‘compliance audits’ are conducted each year and are required for a firm to
maintain its ISO quality program certification. Additionally, employees are expected to know
the company’s ISO procedures as they relate to their respective work areas, and the on-site
auditor must verify their knowledge of GGS quality management procedures.

GGS President Paul Kilker noted, “This successful quality audit achieved by GGS India again demonstrates to customers worldwide that quality is our primary mission at GGS. We at GGS have our own term for this internal awareness - we call it a ‘Passion For Excellence.’ This new certification for our India office - completing full certification for all of our facilities - is important to many customers that we serve, especially those in the aerospace and transportation equipment markets, who are ISO certified themselves,” he said.
